As we noted before we want to provide our readers with a better online experience. This will our second move in 6 months and although our new location still isn’t ideal we are moving closer to the type of site that we envision. On the night of August 21, 1831, Nat Turner led a slave rebellion that became a watershed event in America’s long and troubled history of slavery and racial conflict. With a small band of rebels, Nat Turner wreaked fear and violence in Southhampton County, Virginia in an attempt to strike a crushing blow against the institution of slavery. Weeks following the bloody rebellion, Turner was captured and gave his confessions to attorney Thomas R. Gray. Written by and starring CTH company member and OBIE Award winner Ty Jones, EMANCIPATION is a thoughtful, powerful and visceral telling of this pivotal moment in American history. EMANCIPATION is a new play and is being developed and directed by Christopher McElroen in CTH’s Future Classics Program.
